How Does a Sleep Study Work?
After an initial office visit with our Board-Certified Sleep Doctor, it will be determined if an overnight sleep study is necessary. This study will help diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, periodic limb movement disorder, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, nighttime behaviors like sleepwalking, REM sleep behavior disorder, and many others.
Often, the Doctor needs more conclusive evidence while you’re sleeping to confirm the correct diagnosis. The sleep study will occur in one of our onsite bedrooms, which is comfortable, quiet, and dark. Please arrive roughly two hours before bedtime and bring pajamas or loose-fitting clothing such as jogging pants, shorts, and a T-shirt. Bedding, pillows, and blankets are provided for your stay. Our certified technologist will monitor you during the night, and the data collected will be evaluated, scored, and used by our physician to diagnose your sleep study properly.
